PM expects urgency from officials regarding flood damages in West
With millions of dollars of damages in major industries and communities in the Western Division, the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has stressed to officials in the Western Division to have a sense of urgency.

Commodore Bainimarama is touring the Western Division and seeing firsthand damages caused and the relief work carried out.

Similar sentiments were aired at both Lomawai and Navisabisabi villages in Sigatoka which included calls for river dredging and assistance to clean up the village.

Lomawai villagers have asked for relocation to a new land given that they have been greatly affected by the floods.

One of their concerns included flooding during low tide which was something they experienced for the first time.

The Prime Minister has instructed the Commissioner Western and officials from the Works and Agriculture Ministries to look into the matter and conduct an assessment for river dredging.
