Heavy rain alert remains in force for Fiji
Expect heavy rain and possible flash flooding today as a heavy rain alert remains in force for Fiji.

The Nadi Meteorological Office says a trough of low pressure is affecting the country, while another trough of low pressure is expected to affect Fiji later today.

Meanwhile, a northeasterly wind flow prevails over the Fiji group.

Occasional rain, heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms are expected from today.

Possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses and Irish crossings, which could lead to traffic disruptions.

Surface flooding is also expected on streets in urban areas with poor drainage, along with wet roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours, increasing the risk of road accidents.
