The Fiji Rugby Union in collaboration with the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union have this morning announced that they have come to an agreement yesterday to form an interim committee to work alongside FSSRU as the 2025 Vodafone Deans and Weet-Bix Raluve competition kicks off this weekend.

FRU Acting CEO Koli Sewabu, while making the announcement this morning, says this is to also assist the FSSRU and also acknowledge the matters raised by the Ministry of Education with regards to the use of teachers, schools and resources, and also acknowledging that FSSRU is an affiliate member of the Fiji Rugby Football Union.

He says members of the interim committee included two from the Ministry of Education, and they are Timoci Bure, who is the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Education, and Taniela Domoni, the Divisional Education Officer Central.

He adds the Fiji Secondary Schools nominees are Savenaca Muamua, Biu Colati, and Navitalai Waiwalu.

Sewabu says from Fiji Rugby's perspective, they have got their Women's Director, Cathy Wong, National Development Manager Lionel Danford, General Manager of the High Performance Unit, Nacanieli Cawanibuka, and former Fijiana Xvs Captain, Leilanie Burnes.

He says they have also appointed Talemo Waqa, who is the Regional Training Manager for World Rugby and Oceania Rugby, as an administrator to assist the group.
