A violent assault case in Tailevu is now being linked to allegations of a separate abduction case involving a minor.

It is alleged that the incident on the 15th of this month where two men assaulted a 43-year-old man from Waidalice, stemmed from claims that the man had abducted a 15-year-old girl.

fijivillage News understands that one of the men allegedly involved in the assault is the father of the 15-year-old girl, who was taken into custody at around 2am on the 16th of this month and questioned for 56 hours.

The teenager’s family has also confirmed that a report has been lodged.

Police confirm the report was lodged by the parents of a young girl who was allegedly abducted by the individual.

They add that investigators cannot interview him yet as he remains in hospital.

Police say the matter must go through the investigation process, which includes questioning the alleged suspect.
