2023 Coca-Cola Games : MGM’s Boletakanakadavu and Grammar’s Caginivalu rule the tracks

2023 Coca-Cola Games : MGM’s Boletakanakadavu and Grammar’s Caginivalu rule the tracks

Senior Girl's and Boy's 100m gold medalists, Kesaia Boletakanakadavu and Semesa Caginivalu

MGM High School’s sprint queen, Kesaia Boletakanakadavu successfully defended her blue ribbon title at this year’s Coca-Cola Games after a dominant performance in the 100 metres final.

Boletakanakadavu clocked a time of 12.44 seconds.

She says in the last 50 metres of her race, she knew she was going to win.

She has thanked all her supporters, parents and sponsor Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya.

She says preparation for the Games was tough as they had less time to prepare for the Zone competition and Coca-Cola Games compared to last year.

She says if given the chance, she would like to represent Fiji in the Pacific Games later this year.

Boletakanakadavu has dedicated the win to all MGM High School supporters, old scholars, teachers and her grandfather and people of Nakasaleka in Kadavu.

Adi Cakobau School’s Melania Ranadi finished second to win silver while Suva Grammar’s Chloe David settled for bronze in the senior girls 100 metres.

In the senior boys 100 metres, Suva Grammar School’s Semesa Caginivalu snatched the gold medal in a tight race.

Caginivalu says he was a bit nervous and scared but his coach, Jone Delai provided the much needed guidance.

He dedicated his win to his family especially to his grandmother who always supports him.

He says this win is a special one for him.

Caginivalu stopped the clock at 10.90 seconds.

Grammar’s Ratu Alipate Vuiwakaya took the silver while Marist’s Mesulame Tuigau settled for the bronze medal.

In the intermediate girls 100 metres, Imeri Nasali of ACS bagged gold beating Grammar’s Claudy David and Marica Narebai of Natabua settled for silver.

Ratu Penaia Ramasirai of MGM High won gold in the intermediate boys 100 metres, Joseph Andrews of RKS won silver and Emosi Laqere of MGM settled for bronze.

Agnes Levana of Immaculate Conception College took out gold in the sub-junior girls division, Salaseini Navo won silver for Jasper while Aliti Ratudradra of Natabua High settled for bronze.
