The transition from Deans rugby to the Fiji U20s is an essential part of the Fiji Rugby Union’s development program and a crucial pathway to Fiji’s elite teams as well.
This was highlighted by FRU Acting CEO Koli Sewabu while talking about the impressive form of the Vodafone Fiji U20s side that is currently taking part in the Oceania Rugby Championship in Nadi.
Sewabu says the team is doing really well at the moment after securing two comfortable wins over Tonga and Canada.
He says there have been some funding cuts from World Rugby with regard to the Junior World Trophy as Fiji was at the Junior World Championship and then got demoted to the Junior World Tournament.
He adds that there are new tournaments being planned for next year, and they are yet to hear the confirmation of that in terms of their involvement.
The Fiji U20s will take on Junior Samoa in their final game at 4pm this Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
