Verekauta wins 400m in Auckland

Fiji's 21-year old Niko Verekauta won the Men's 400 meters at the Black Singlet Invitational Meeting in Auckland, crossing the line in 47.43 seconds - a full 1.24 seconds ahead of second place.

The Black Singlet is an Oceania Meet and part of the IAAF World Athletics Tour.

Also Leslie Copeland - Fiji's Javelin thrower was placed 4th in the Mens Javelin Event at the Australian Athletics Grand Prix held in Melbourne yesterday.

Copeland's throw of 74.40 metres and was a personal best.
