Heavy Rain Warning remains for Viti Levu, Northern Division, Yasawa and Lomaiviti, heavy rain alert for rest of Fiji

A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu, Northern Division, Lomaiviti, and Yasawa group.

A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies over Fiji and associated cloud, showers and rain are expected to affect the group for the next few days.

Meanwhile, a moist northeasterly wind flow prevails over the country.

Forecast for the Northern Division, Interior and Eastern parts of Viti Levu, Lomaiviti and Yasawa group includes occasional periods of rain, heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms.

The forecast for the rest of Fiji is occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms with rain becoming frequent and heavy, especially in the afternoon and evening.

This may lead to flash flooding of flood-prone low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses, and Irish crossings, leading to traffic disruptions.

Surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.

Wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, increase the risk of road accidents.
