Ba market vendors are currently facing a shortage of fruits and vegetables following flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Urmil.

Ba Market Vendors Association President Lusiana Bulu says due to the shortage in supply, the prices of vegetables have increased.

While speaking to fijivillage News Bulu, who is also a farmer and vendor at the Ba Market, says she has suffered losses of approximately $500.

She says one of the major challenges farmers are facing is transporting their remaining fruits and vegetables to the market due to damaged bridges and roads.

Bulu says the Market Vendors Association has written to the Ba Town Council requesting that the collection of market fees be suspended for a couple of weeks to assist vendors.

She adds that farmers are requesting assistance from the government, including manure for their crops, and are calling for damaged bridges and roads to be repaired to allow easier transportation.
