Nadivakarua Women’s Group fish pond project aims to improve food security

Villagers of Nadivakarua in Kubulau, Bua, were assisted by the Ministry of Fisheries, Fiji Aquaculture team in the Northern Division, who recently worked together with the villagers to connect the inlet pipe for the Women’s Group fish pond.

The Ministry says this is an important step forward for the community aquaculture project.

They say the initiative will support local fish farming efforts and strengthen food security for the village.

During the activity, the officers reminded the women’s group about the importance of preparing and providing quality fish feed to ensure healthy fish growth and a productive pond.

The community is now looking forward to the arrival of the fish fry, after which stocking of the pond will begin.

Once operational, the fish pond is expected to provide fresh fish and new opportunities for the Nadivakarua community.
