Drua beat Brumbies 42-27 in historic win in Ba

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has beaten the Brumbies 42-27 in their historic game in Ba.

The Brumbies kicked off the first half and the  Fijian Drua conceded the first penalty just 44 seconds into the match when the Brumbies posted the ball, giving the Drua an early attacking opportunity.

Shortly after, the Drua were awarded another penalty and attacked the Brumbies’ line just five metres from the try line.

While pressing the Brumbies’ defence, the Drua earned another penalty and Isaiah Armstrong Ravula opted to kick for goal, successfully opening the scoring.

The Drua led 3–0 in the 5th minute.

In the 6th minute, the Brumbies capitalised on Drua territory play, running a clean ball that allowed their winger to score the first try of the match, taking the lead 5–3.

By the 12th minute, Drua forward Etonia Waqa made a strong run down the flank to score the Drua’s first try, reclaiming the lead at 10–5.

The Brumbies opted for a lineout in the 15th minute and continued to apply pressure on the Drua line. 

In the 18th minute, Mesake Doge was shown a yellow card.

Despite having a numerical advantage, the Brumbies were unable to convert the opportunity into points.

In the 23rd minute, the Drua regained possession and chose a scrum.

The Brumbies struck again in the 26th minute with their second try, moving ahead 12–10.

Two minutes later, the Drua were awarded another penalty and Armstrong-Ravula successfully kicked for goal, edging the Drua back into the lead at 13–12.

The Drua continued their attacking momentum in the 32nd minute, with Elia Canakaivata crossing the line for the Drua’s second try, extending their lead to 20–12.

The Drua held a 20–12 lead at halftime.

The Brumbies kicked off the second half.

In the 42nd minute, Sairusi Ravudi scored the Drua’s first points of the second half, extending the lead to 25–12.

In the 52nd minute, Drosese scored a try to push the Drua further ahead at 32–12.

The Brumbies responded with another try, bringing their total to 17 points.

The Brumbies scored another try to take them to 22 points.

By the 65th minute, the Drua were again attacking the Brumbies’ line and were awarded a penalty, which extended their lead to 35–22.

In the 69th minute, Ba speedster Drosese scored his second try of the match in dramatic fashion, stretching the Drua’s lead to 42–22.

Armstrong-Ravula kicked for touch in the 72nd minute as the Drua mounted another attack on the Brumbies’ line.

However, after several phases, they lost possession in the 76th minute.

The Brumbies had the final opportunity of the match and launched one last attack on the Drua line and scored their last try.

Final score - Drua 42 Brumbies 27.
