Newly appointed Women’s Director of Rugby in Fiji, Cathy Wong

Newly appointed Women’s Director of Rugby in Fiji, Cathy Wong has revealed that her plan is to ensure that the new board has good and sustainable governance that the outgoing board of trustees have started.

Wong says on the global level, that must continue, and at the national level, they need to make sure they have the product's commercial viability.

She says they have a very good product which is the Fiji Rugby brand.

Wong says this position is called the Women's Director, but in a nutshell, everyone is a board director which ensures that there is female representation on the board.

She says constitutionally, they are supposed to have two women on the board, but they will sort that out in due time.

When asked what this election personally meant for her, Wong says it really makes her proud to be a Fijian.

Wong says rugby is a religion and a national sport in Fiji, and to have the confidence of the people of Fiji to vote her onto the board, is a real personal and human achievement for her.

Wong has vowed to give her utmost best to make sure that she can fulfill this position honestly and with integrity.

Meanwhile, the other newly elected FRU Board members include Mosese Naivalu as the Legal Director, John Sanday and Tevita Tuiloa as the Commercial Directors, and Koli Sewabu and Conway Beg as the Rugby Directors.
