The Ovalau Senior Men’s side survived a late comeback from Nasinu to win 19-17 in their Vanua Championship round 1 match this afternoon at Bidesi Park.

The Old Capital side, despite facing some hiccups before this game, put their bodies on the line and played with a lot of pride to claim the win.

Ovalau coach Apenisa Navisa says the win today is special.

Navisa says coming into the first round of the competition, they had a hard time getting the players to assemble a match-day squad.

He adds they will now turn their focus to their next game next weekend and they will be looking to improve on the areas that proved too costly for them today.

Ovalau led 10-3 at halftime.
