Strong wind and heavy rain currently being experienced in Nadi and Lautoka

People in Nadi, Lautoka and Tavua have started experiencing strong winds and heavy rain.

Residents have informed fijivillage News that they began experiencing strong winds and rain this morning.

A resident of Tavakubu in Lautoka says the weather changed this morning, and they were awoken by strong winds and rain.

He says some low-lying areas have started to flood.

The Namaka Police Station confirms that a tree and an electricity pole have fallen due to strong winds, disrupting movement in the Legalega Settlement.

They say entry has been closed to all vehicles.

They also say that wind speeds have picked up this morning.

Meanwhile, Viti Levu Advisory Councillor Vinod Kumar says they are also experiencing strong winds.

Kumar says he has checked a few areas this morning but has not noticed any damage so far.
