It was a proud moment for Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist and Team Fiji Women’s 7s captain Raijeli Daveua and sailor, Viliame Ratulu to wave the Fijian flag down the River Seine during the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony.

Ratulu says he is excited to have been chosen as Fiji’s flag bearer and it feels like he has already won the Olympics.

He says this means a lot to him and his family.

Daveua says it is an honour to be given this responsibility as she never even dreamt of this.

She says she is grateful for the support she gets from her family and her husband. Daveua adds the team has been preparing well and they hope to make the country proud.

Meanwhile, the women’s team takes on Canada at 3.30am on Monday, China at 7am and New Zealand at 2.30am on Tuesday.

The quarter finals start at 7am on Tuesday, the semi finals start at 1.30am on Wednesday.

The final is at 5.45am Wednesday.

The Fiji Men’s 7s Rugby side will face Australia in the men’s semi final at 2am tomorrow while South Africa takes on France at 1.30am in the first semi final followed by the final at 5.45am tomorrow.
