Skipper Cup: Suva survives scare from Ba in senior men’s quarter final

Skipper Cup champion Suva survived a scare from newcomers Ba winning 28-16 in the senior men's quarter final at Albert Park.

Suva was given a good run for their money as Ba threatened their defence throughout the game.

Suva held a 12-8 lead at halftime after scoring two tries and a conversion while Ba scored an unconverted try and a penalty kick at goal.

Suva went on to score a further 16 points in the second half through a converted try, 2 penalty kicks at goal and a drop goal, while Ba managed to score another unconverted try and a penalty kick for the final score.

Suva had the services of a few Fiji Airways Men's National 7s reps in the likes of Terio Tamani, Tira Welagi and Sanaila Siqila who all started today and made a huge difference in the game.

In other Senior Men’s quarter finals, Nadi beat Lautoka 19-12, Naitasiri defeated Macuata 32-22 and Nadroga beat Tailevu 41-28.

Meanwhile, in the under-20s Men, Suva beat Macuata 23-22, Nadroga beat Lautoka 24-6, Naitasiri defeated Tailevu 33-31 and Nadi overcame Ba 24-16.

In the ANZ Marama Championship under 20s, Namosi beat Nadroga 36-13, Suva walloped Nasinu 101-10, Naitasiri defeated Lautoka 42-31 and Nadi thrashed Tailevu 57-7.

In the ANZ Marama Championship Senior grade, Suva defeated Lautoka 52-0, Nasinu beat Nadi 42-24, Namosi defeated Nadroga 30-12 and Yasawa overcame Naitasiri 22-15.
