The Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection is working on developing a rural women’s forum to empower rural women by giving them a platform to voice their concerns, share ideas, and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their communities.
While responding to fijivillage News on the plan for the Ministry of Women, with the possibility of the next general election in about a year’s time, Minister Sashi Kiran says that some forums already exist but are not fully active, and the development process aims to ensure information reaches all the way to the grassroots level.
Kiran says every voice needs to be heard when putting together policies that will benefit the country.
She emphasized that inclusive participation is key to developing programs that are responsive to the needs of women in all regions, particularly those in remote and underrepresented areas.
She adds the ministry plans to work closely with local leaders, NGOs, and community organizations to strengthen these forums and ensure they remain active and effective in empowering women at the grassroots level.
