Round 1 of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Zones competition will go ahead this weekend as scheduled.

This has been confirmed by Fiji Rugby Union Acting CEO Koli Sewabu following reports that Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has instructed that all school rugby games that are supposed to kick off this weekend be put on hold until further notice.

When contacted by fijivillage Sports, Sewabu says that based on their consultation and their press conference agreement yesterday, the Ministry has officially given them the go-ahead.

We have sent questions to Minister Aseri Radrodro, and he is yet to respond.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Union in collaboration with the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union have announced that they have come to an agreement to form an interim committee to work alongside FSSRU as the 2025 Vodafone Deans and Weet-Bix Raluve competition.

While making the announcement, Sewabu says this is to also assist the FSSRU and also acknowledge the matters raised by the Ministry of Education with regards to the use of teachers, schools and resources, and also acknowledging that FSSRU is an affiliate member of the Fiji Rugby Football Union.
