Police opens new Digital Forensic Laboratory to address cyber related crimes

The Fiji Police Force’s Digital Forensic Laboratory has been opened to address the high rise in cyber related crimes in Fiji.

The high tech lab is located at the Criminal Investigation Department Head Quarters in Toorak and has the capability of carrying out mobile, computer and CCTV forensics.

Commissioner of Police, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho acknowledged the Australian Government for their timely assistance and stated that by enhancing the Cybercrime Unit’s capacity in investigating these cases, it will significantly change public perception.

The new office was officially opened by the Australia High Commission Deputy Head of Mission, Paul Wilson.

Australia Federal Police Liaison Officer Detective Superintendent Adrian Morton says the officers will be trained to use these high tech equipment’s to combat Crime, tackle drug traffickers and organize crimes.
