The recent desecration of temples and places of worship in Fiji should not define who we are as a society.
This was shared by the Co-coordinator for Disaster Reduction and Climate Change Reverend Tomasi Jale during the Ecumenical event with the theme “Peace with Creation”, bringing together Christians and people of all faiths in prayer.
He says it should encourage people of all faiths to unite against forces of division and to uphold the common good that faith-based organisations contribute for the betterment of the people.
While speaking during the event Reverend Jale says gatherings of this nature bring everyone closer to God.
Reverend Jale also highlighted that differences in church teachings have caused divisions among Christians in how they interpret the word of God.
He hopes that everyone will come together in unity to celebrate interfaith prayer gatherings and to enjoy the songs and dances.
Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Suva says the event united voices for peace, harmony, and the protection of our common home and country.
They add that the celebration also provided reflections on the relationship between humanity, nature, and peace with creation.
