Landowners in Namosi have raised objections after comments made by Fiji Corrections Service Deputy Commissioner, Auta Moceisuva that they are looking at Namosi as a possible new burial site.
Turaga Na Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua confirmed to fijivillage News that this issue will be discussed in the Bose Vanua next week.
Moceisuva told the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights that talks are ongoing with the iTaukei Land Trust Board which has identified land in Namosi for a new burial site, but it is still under discussion.
Speaking on the Burial and Cremation Act 2025, Moceisuva says discussions were ongoing with the landowners, but acknowledged several challenges.
The Bose Vanua will be held next Tuesday at Veivatuloa Village, in Namosi.
