Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season – Archbishop Peter Loy Chong

Christians not only around the country but around the world are celebrating Ash Wednesday today which marks the beginning of the Lenten season.

Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says this is a time to admit the wrong we have done, repent and turn back to God.

He says Lent is a time to be reconciled with others and God, it is a time to be humble and open our hearts to the love of God.

His Grace says all human beings need Ash Wednesday and the Season of Lent as it reminds us of something that is common to all human beings – our brokenness, our incompleteness; our missing the mark in our lives – sin.

He says more importantly, while lent calls us to turn away from sin, it is also a time to open our hearts to God’s love, mercy and healing.

The Archbishop is wishing love and the peace of God be with us all on Ash Wednesday and throughout the Season of Lent.
