Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has clarified in Parliament that the $75 subsidy for Dialysis has already started in Labasa while patients in Suva and the Western Division have been asked to register.
Waqainabete highlighted this when SODELPA MP Viliame Gavoka asked in Parliament why does it cost a patient $75 for Dialysis in Labasa while patients in Suva have to pay around $200.
Waqainabete says for Suva, dialysis will only be provided at the Nadera Unit which is expected to be up and running probably in the next two months or so.
The Minister also says that they have identified a building in the Western Division and they are in the process of renovating it to be able to fit it out for government’s dialysis centre.
He stressed that there is still a need for patients to register.
He also stressed that the government is also providing free dialysis for patients who visit CWM Hospital.
