Following the naming of the All Blacks squad for the July tests series against France, Crusaders prop George Bower and Blues number 8 Hoskins Sotutu are now one step closer to donning the Fiji Water Flying Fijians jersey after they were dropped from the ABs squad this morning.
Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne, while speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, indicated that he had already spoken to Bower and Sotutu earlier this year.
Byrne says at the moment, he does not know what they are thinking but hopefully they will be available for the Flying Fijians.
He says there will be players that the selectors will be talking to about the opportunity to represent the Flying Fijians.
He adds there are three or four players there that they would like to be able to consider for selection.
Byrne says they are not guaranteeing selection to these players but, they are players that are going to be definitely in the conversation around selection.
Meanwhile, the 32-member Flying Fijians squad will assemble this Thursday in Nadi before flying out to Newcastle on Friday.
Fiji will take on the Wallabies next Sunday at 3.30pm in Newcastle.
They will then play Scotland on the 12th of July at 3pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
