The mess at Fiji Rugby Union house is a lot bigger than what happened with the Fijiana 15s team.

This has been stated by Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board Chair Peter Mazey as he says the trustees have been at Rugby House every single day investigating and working with various staff to get the information they need and it has not been easy.

Mazey says the income at FRU right now is about $22 million to $25 million per year and yet it hasn’t been looked after properly.

He says regrettably they do keep finding more debts apart from the large debt of $3.5 million they uncovered in the first place.

He says they found simple court cases that are in action that could have a large bearing on that debt as well which was something they did not want to find.

Mazey further says they now have to find ways to pay those debts and address the issues raised in those court cases.

The Chairman says one of the things that they noticed was that we all talk rugby in Fiji and everybody in Fiji is part of the rugby family, but a very unhappy and unworkable culture at Rugby House itself was found as everybody was protecting themselves.

Mazey says there has been a lack of direction and lack of governance as well and it has been really hard to get disclosures from staff members that the trustees had to sit personally to get the information they wanted to know which he says was like trying to get blood out of a stone.
