A man from Topline Housing in Mead Road in Suva is currently being questioned by Police in relation to the assault in the area a few days ago.

Police confirm this is in relation to the assault of the 20 year old son of a Republic of Fiji Military Forces officer.

We have been informed that the 20 year old was assaulted by a group of men.

Police say they are gathering more information and statements.

While speaking at their 2nd Quarter Parade, RFMF Land Force Commander, Brigadier General Onisivoro Covunisaqa spoke about the members of the public, recognising their sacrifice and naming them the very reason the force exists.

He vows that this is not a transient campaign but an enduring, constitutional and moral commitment to dismantle narcotics networks, to secure homes, schools and streets, and to guarantee a future free from fear for every Fijian child and household.

Brigadier General Covunisaqa made it unequivocally clear that the leadership of the Land Forces will stand with every soldier, unconditionally and without hesitation.

He acknowledged the trials ahead but pledged collective protection for soldiers and their families, insisting on service marked by discipline, integrity and readiness.
