A man charged with the alleged murder of 55-year-old Prem Chand in Labasa over the weekend has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Labasa Magistrates Court.
Ananaisa Ono is charged with one count of murder.
His case has been adjourned to 21st May.
During the proceedings, the court informed Ono of his right to legal representation, and he opted to be assisted by the Legal Aid Commission.
The court also directed Police to escort him to the Legal Aid office to arrange legal representation.
Chand, a resident of Korowiri, was allegedly attacked near Subrail Park on Sunday morning after he had gone to deliver a sound system to a kirtan programme on Saturday night.
