The Fiji Airways Men's National 7s side lost to Spain 14-12 in their final pool match at the Valladolid 7s in Spain.
Spain kicked off the match with a try to Jaime Manteca to lead 7-0, but Fiji responded with an unconverted try to Apete Narogo to close the gap to 7-5.
Vuiviawa Naduvalo's try in the final minute of the first half was disqualified after he lost the ball on the try line.
Spain led Fiji 7-5 at half time.
Manteca scored his second try in the second half to extend Spain's lead to 14-5.
Naduvalo redeem himself after scoring another try to close the gap ton 12-14.
Spain continued to put pressure on the Fijians and managed to hold off a the Fijians to win the match.
Fiji will now take on New Zealand in the first men's quarter finals at 2.27am tomorrow.
In other quarter finals, Australia will face Kenya at 2.49am, Spain will face South Africa at 3.11am, while Argentina will meet France at 3.33am.
