Valladolid 7s: Fiji through to Cup quarters after beating USA 19-7

The Fiji Airways Men's National 7s side are through to the Cup quarterfinals after beating the USA 19-7 in their second pool game at the World Championship in Valladolid, Spain.

Fiji had thumped France 26-12 in their first game.

George Bose scored first for Fiji after they overpowered the USA scrum to lead 7-0.

The USA pulled one back through Orrin Bizer to level things 7-7 at half time.

Filipe Sauturaga then sprinted coast to coast untouched after the USA lost the ball inside Fiji' 10 metre line to regain the lead 14-7.

After that the Fiji team went to work tearing apart the USA defence before skipper Terio Veilawa side stepped two players before unselfishly passing to Tanivanuakula to score and make it 19-7.

Fiji will next play hosts Spain at 12.12am tomorrow.

The Cup quarterfinals are at 2.27am tomorrow.

The Cup semi finals are at 8.44pm tomorrow before the Cup final kicks off at 2.26am Monday.

In other games, Spain beat the USA 26-21, New Zealand thumped Germany 33-12, Argentina thrashed Uruguay 40-14, Australia defeated Great Britain 26-12, while South Africa beat Kenya 14-0.
