To decrease Fiji's import bill, the Primary Industries ministry is concentrating on the farming of a number of crops.
Minister Joketani Cokanasiga said they are focusing on Nadirivatu and Sigatoka Valley for potatoe planting which he said will benefit the country in the long run.
The Ministry, in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission has also introduced two new crop varieties capsicum and sweet corn for farmers in Sigatoka.
Cokanasiga earlier said they will focus on various sectors for import substitution programs.
