School opens doors as evacuation center
Heeding the warning for flooding in low lying areas another school in the north has opened up as an evacuation center.

Naleba Primay School Management in Labasa have opened up their school as a evacuation center and people living in nearby low lying areas may find accommodation there in case of emergency.

Meanwhile more than 200 people are already in evacuation centers in the northern division to prevent being caught up by bad weather in the last minute.

Divisional Northern Planning Officer, Alipate Bola said these people had been advised to move during daylight and not wait for things to worsen.

Bola said their district team and divisional team are keeping a track of the weather update and taking necessary steps accordingly.

These people are currently in Navatuvula Primary School, Wainika and Volivoli Primary schools which have been opened as evacuation centers.
 
Meanwhile, 40 Evacuation Centers in the West are now on standby and ready for activation as Tropical Cyclone Evan is expected to make landfall today.

According to the National Disaster Management office the evacuation centers consists of 7 schools in Lautoka, 6 schools in Nadi, 5 schools each in Ra, Ba and Tavua, 7 schools in Nadroga and 5 in Navosa.
