About 200 evacuation centers identified in North
With Tropical Cyclone Evan approaching and an alert being given for those in the North around 200 evacuation centers have been identified yet an increase is anticipated once Tropical Cyclone Evan hits this is from the Divisional Northern Planning Officer, Alipate Bola.

As the North continues to brace itself in Taveuni District Officer Peni Tora said 34 evacuation centers are now on standby while workers of Public Works Department and Waiyevo prisoners are working into the afternoon clearing large trees near roads and houses.

In Savusavu Inspector Tomasi Yabakioni said shops have already put up shutters in the town, also villages and hotels along the coastal areas from Udu Point to Dawara, have been advised on Cyclone preparations with 10 evacuation centers now on standby.

For Macuata 51 evacuation centers whilst Bua have identified 54 evacuation centers for use.

Meanwhile, Sharon Smith-Johns, the Permanent Secretary for Information said that the Emergency Service Team and DISMAC are on high alert.
