8yr old was looking forward to new school year

The eight-year-old girl of Rakiraki who died yesterday after she accidentally swallowed and choked on a balloon was looking forward to a new school year.

Isha Kumar was supposed to enter Class Three at Penang Sangam Primary School this year.

Her uncle Lakshan Naidu, who had raised her from birth, said his niece had bought books and stationery to get ready for school.

Meanwhile, police confirmed she was playing outside with her friends while her father was indoors and her mother had gone shopping.

She was rushed to the hospital however was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The post mortem is expected to be conducted later today.
