Reed said that the many good policies that have been put in place will continue.
US President Barack Obama has pledged “the best is yet to come”, after a decisive re election victory over Republican challenger Mitt Romney last night.
After a hard fought campaign which highlighted America's political divide, Obama pledged, as he did four years ago, to work with his opponents.
Romney echoed that call for unity as he graciously admitted defeat.
Meanwhile, Obama is heading back to Washington today to face a looming financial crisis and a bitterly divided Congress.
