NFP says Ratu Sukuna’s values remain relevant in today’s Fiji.

Values of service, unity and nation-building championed by Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna remain as relevant today as they were during his lifetime.

In a statement marking Ratu Sukuna Day, the National Federation Party says Fiji is commemorating the life and legacy of one of the principal architects of modern Fiji, whose leadership, foresight and service helped shape the foundations of the nation.

The NFP says Ratu Sukuna was a decorated soldier, scholar, statesman and chief who embodied resilience, discipline and an unwavering commitment to Fiji.

The party says at a defining moment in the country's history, he recognised the importance of building institutions that could safeguard economic stability, strengthen governance and prepare future generations to navigate change with confidence and purpose.

It says his enduring contributions to public administration, education, land stewardship and national development continue to influence Fiji's social and economic fabric today.

The NFP also says Ratu Sukuna believed leadership carried a responsibility to serve people, strengthen communities and protect the long-term interests of the nation.

According to the party, his life continues to offer important lessons on unity, service, resilience and nation-building in an increasingly complex world.

The NFP is encouraging Fijians to reflect on those values and renew their commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive and forward-looking Fiji as the nation observes Ratu Sukuna Day.
