Those who knew of million dollar shipment now being questioned
Police are now interviewing the people who knew about the $1 million coming into the country for the Reserve Bank of Fiji on Friday night, following the revelation that the large amount of cash in new $20 notes has gone missing.

Assistant spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the people who were rostered over the weekend will also be questioned as the container was cut open from the outside, and someone working at the Kings Wharf at the time would definitely know something about the heist.

Questions have also been raised on whether Fiji Ports Corporation Limited has surveillance cameras that could track the people who stole the large amount of money.

Sokomuri said they cannot reveal this at this stage.

FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu confirmed to Fijivillage that they are trying to establish how the thieves gained access to the container in which the money was being kept.

Tikolevu said they are also trying to establish the names of the Customs staff who were rostered during that time.

Fijivillage has managed to establish that the $1 million in new $20 notes arrived from the UK late Friday.

It was discovered missing on Saturday night.
