Fiji will need at least 600-1000 millimeters of rain to ease the current dry weather condition in the Western Division.
That is the sentiment of Doctor Sushil Sharma a Professional Weather Scientist based at the Nadi Weather Office.
Sharma said at the moment Fiji is entering into what is called an agricultural and meteorological drought period and it is only right that an official drought be declared in the West.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Office and the National Disaster Management Office have confirmed that they are expected to have a meeting soon on whether to declare an official drought in the Western Division.
