Fiji is indebted to volunteers-Shameem
People who volunteer are selfless in that they work towards promoting peace development and justice in their societies and in the world.

These are the words of Former High Court Judge Nazhat Shameem at the International Volunteer Day Celebrations at Sukuna Park this morning to commemorate the tireless and selfless act that volunteers take up to help others.

Shameem commended the theme chosen for the celebrations "Volunteering for Our Planet", as she thinks that it is important for volunteers in Fiji, to work to preserve our environment.

She added that Fiji is indebted to volunteers for giving their time and energy to helping our country and for helping u build a society based on justice, peace and development.

Celebrations will continue tomorrow with a cleanup campaign and the planting of trees in parts of Suva.
