The current drought experienced in the Western division is expected to continue till mid November.
Manager Climate Services at the Nadi Weather Office, Dr. Sushil Sharma said the dry period is almost 18 months long and is expected to continue for the next two months.
He added that some areas recorded 95 percent decrease in average rainfall during this dry spell, with the whole of Western Division being the worst affected.
According to Dr. Sharma, Fiji experienced the effects of El Nino which contributed to the dry weather pattern.
