Selection calls tough but healthy sign for Drua depth – Jackson

It was the hardest job to do with all the boys putting their hands up to play, which is a really good problem to have, but it is also not easy when telling players they will not be putting on the jersey.

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Coach, Glen Jackson highlighted this to fijivillage Sports from their base in Nadi, saying they have talked to all the players around the understanding that this is an 18-game season.

Jackson says opportunities will come for everyone and this is just the group that they have decided to go for, for game number one.

When asked if the Drua are feeling the pressure after being labelled a national economic engine, Jackson says professional rugby is pressure so it is an amazing achievement for not only the boys, but their backroom staff, everyone that works for the Drua, understands the importance of what they bring to the economy, government and to everyone involved.

He says from his understanding about 1 percent of the economy comes from the Drua.

The Coach says they have got an amazing group of sponsors that they work really hard for and want to be proud of to represent.

He adds it is a credit to not just the Drua, but to the whole of Fiji, like going back to New Zealand, they sold out the Chiefs game and that was, he believes, because of the Drua.

The Drua play Moana Pasifika at 3.35pm tomorrow at Churchill Park, Lautoka, before that the Drua Development face Australian Fijian U20s at 12.30pm.

In other matches, the Crusaders will face the Highlanders at 6.05 tonight and the Waratahs play the Reds at 8.35 tonight.

The Chiefs play the Blues at 6.05pm tomorrow, while the Force meet the Brumbies at 8.35pm.
