Filipo Daugunu scored a try for the Queensland Reds as they ended their 15-year hoodoo against the Crusaders, defeating the defending champions 31-26 to keep their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific finals hopes intact.

The win came at a cost as playmaker Carter Gordon injured his right knee.

The Wallabies No.10 contender left the field in the 44th minute after coming off second-best in a tackle, and he later had his knee in a brace and was on crutches.

Gordon’s injury is a significant blow for Queensland as they push for a finals spot, with their next three games against top-four sides.

Regardless, the Reds snapped a horror losing streak to the Crusaders, having not beaten them in Brisbane since the 2011 Super Rugby grand final.

Victory was not easy, as the visitors stayed in the contest despite the Reds’ dominance, but late tries to winger Daugunu and substitute Louis Werchon secured Queensland's win and cemented their place in the top six.

Daugunu impressed throughout the match in his 100th competition appearance, running for 120 metres and scoring a try.

The Crusaders (4-4) are now in danger of missing out on the finals despite coming into the contest with three straight wins.

In other results, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua edged the Western Force 24-22, and the Hurricanes thumped the Blues 42-19.
