Drua redeem themselves at the Fortress to win 25-20 against Canes

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have finally reclaimed their Fortress in Lautoka after winning their first game of the season beating the Hurricanes 25-20 in their round three Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific match.

With both teams playing to the conditions dealt them in a wet and slippery Lautoka as they opted for kicks and chase trying to catch their opposition napping.

Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula kicked the Drua into the lead with a penalty kick from 40 metres out to lead 3-0.

Canes winger Fehi Fineanganofo replied for his side scoring in the corner after Cam Roigard noticed an overlap for them to lead the Drua 5-3.

Tuidraki Samusamuvodre came up short after knocking the ball short of the line however he was able to redeem himself in the second half.

The surprise of the day was that in a 27 degrees overcast Lautoka, heat protocols were being observed.

Peter Lakai charged over for the second Canes try after the Drua were continously being pinged for being offside to lead 10-3.

In the 27th Ilaisa Droasese kicked from deep and chased, leading to a turnover which led to Motikiai Murray scoring drawing things equal at 10-all.

3 minutes from the break Canes centre Billy Proctor scored through a mismatch to lead 17-10.

Armstrong-Ravula slotted a penalty kick in the 38th minute to keep Drua within reach.

Half-time 13-17 to the Canes.

Jordie Barrett nailed a penalty from 50 metres out to extend their lead to 20-13.

Samusamuvodre intercepted a pass and ran through untouched to score under the sticks, conversion successful to draw the score even at 20-all.

The Drua finally got back in front after a cut out pass to Peni Ravai who then passed to Etonia Waqa who gunned it down the sidelines to extend their lead to 25-20 which they then protected for the next 12 minutes to get them the win.

The Drua are on a bye next week.
