Deans U18: Solovani kicks Grammar to 27-24 win over Lelean

Suva Grammar School U18's fullback Semi Solovani was the toast of his side as he kicked the winning penalty in the dying stages of the match to help them clinch a 27-24 comeback win over Lelean Memorial School.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Solovani says it is a great feeling knowing that he has done his job on the field and helping the team claim the win.

Solovani says there were alot of mistakes that they conceded today and they will go back and review their performance before next week's semi finals.

Lelean took an early 14-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game following two converted tries from Akapusi Nadavu and Asesela Volaukitoga.

Solovani converted a penalty in th 15th minute to give Grammar 3 points before Lelean's Siloverio extended their lead to 21-3 with a converted try.

Grammar came back firing and scored two converted tries through Ratu Paula Vonolagi and Viliame Daurua before halftime, as they trailed 21-17 at the break.

Lelean's flyhalf Eremasi Tune converted a penalty early in the second half to extend their lead to 24-17 before Grammar's prop Aselemo Robanakadavu scored a converted try in the 50th minute to level the score.

Grammar was awarded a penalty in the 75th minute of the match which Solovani took advantage of and slotted the winning kick.

Meanwhile, in the first U18 semi final, Ratu Kadavulevu School outclassed Cuvu College 34-7.

Marist Brothers' High School is currently playing Natabua High School in the 3rd U18 quarter final.
