People are advised to be prepared for flash floods today to Wednesday as a trough of low pressure continues to affect Fiji, and this will be compounded by the approaching Tropical Depression which currently lies near Vanuatu.

The Nadi Weather Office says a flash flood warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji.

A heavy rain warning is also in force for the whole of Fiji.

Expect flooding of drainage systems, small streams, low water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties in low lying areas.

Slippery road surfaces may lead to hazardous driving conditions, increased risk of accidents, and travel delays, particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

There is a low chance now of the Tropical Depression becoming a Tropical Cyclone.

However the Weather Office advises people that they should be prepared for flash flooding.

TD03F is anticipated to track eastwards into the Fiji waters tomorrow and exit the group through the Lau Group by later Wednesday.

We may have strong northerly winds, averaging around 50 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 70 kilometres per hour.

This is expected to affect the northern parts of Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, northern Lau and Lomaiviti Groups from tomorrow, through Wednesday.

From Thursday, an improvement in the weather is expected.
