Nalagas father clears the air

Kavekini Nalaga, Napolioni Nalaga's father has cleared the air today on why his son did not join the Flying Fijians camp for their Pacific Nations Cup match against Japan last week.

Nalaga Senior has today informed fijivillage that there is no ill-feeling between his son and the Fiji Rugby Union nor the team management of the Flying Fijians.

The Nasama native and a former national rep said their understanding was that their son is here for a three weeks break, after playing in the Top 14 final for Clermont, and felt that he needs to take a break and rest.

He added that there was no prior arrangement with the team management while he was in France, to ask him to play in the Pacific Nations Cup tournament, and they were surprised to find out that word was going around of his inclusion in the team.

Kavekini said his son knows what ‘professional rugby’ is, and has always advised his son not to jeopardize his name, and stressed that Nalaga would have made it straight into camp, if he was aware of his selection.

Nalaga is currently enjoying his break in Fiji and will return to France in a fortnight's time.

Meanwhile the Fiji 15s rugby team received a timely boost before leaving for Apia tonight as South African based, Sireli Naqelevuki joined the side in Nadi this morning.
