FEO launches YES outreach to boost voter registration and awareness ahead of elections

Fijians are being urged to register, update their voter details, and actively participate in the country’s democratic process as the Fijian Elections Office today launched the Your Election, Your Say (YES) Outreach initiative ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections and anticipated General Election.

Electoral Commissions Chair, Justice Usaia Ratuvili says the initiative reflects a deliberate and forward-looking effort to strengthen engagement with the people of Fiji as the country prepares for upcoming electoral processes.

Justice Ratuvili says the outreach is an important step in connecting with communities and encouraging greater public participation in elections.

Meanwhile, Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa says the YES outreach is designed to bring the electoral process directly to Fijians both locally and overseas.

Mataiciwa says the initiative brings together nationwide voter registration, overseas voter registration, community engagement and voter awareness under one people-centered approach.

She says FEO teams are already on the ground across every division, including interior and maritime communities, ensuring eligible voters are registered, and voter details are updated well ahead of the elections.

Mataiciwa says the outreach will also roll out a Community Election Advocates Program while increasing awareness on registration schedules, eligibility requirements, and where and how people can register.

She says the aim is to ensure every Fijian is ready, informed, and aware of their role in shaping the nation while ensuring every voice is heard, and every vote counts.

Mataiciwa is urging Fijians to take the opportunity to register, update their details and cast their vote when the time comes.

She adds that participation is not just a right but the foundation of a strong representative Fiji.

The local government elections will be on any one of the Saturdays in September.
