Open dialogue and the free flow of ideas provide citizens with the information they need to make decisions that benefit their families and communities.

This has been highlighted by US Ambassador to Fiji Marie Damour while congratulating the Fijian media for the FAME Awards, celebrating the country’s achievements in media excellence.

Damour says that it was wonderful to see the hard work of the Fiji Media Association recognized, particularly as the event returned after a 16- or 17-year hiatus.

While speaking during a press conference at the US Embasay, she says they aim to maintain consistent engagement with media across Fiji and the wider Pacific.

She says the gathering reflects values that the United States deeply cherishes, adding that through regular press briefings, the Embassy hopes to demonstrate its commitment to its partners and to the people of the Blue Pacific.

The U.S. Ambassador says the United States and Fiji have made significant progress toward their shared goals this year; working alongside Fiji and other Pacific partners, both nations have promoted peace, expanded prosperity, and strengthened people to people ties.

She added that cooperation between the United States and Pacific partners is expected to grow even stronger in 2026.

The Ambassador concluded by wishing every citizen and their families a blessed and safe Christmas.
