The Fiji Roads Authority says the temporary bypass road near Semo Village, along Queens Highway, is progressing well and should hopefully be completed by tomorrow.
While they are not giving a timeframe, FRA says it should be completed by tomorrow.
FRA says their engineers are hoping it does not rain tonight, with the ground already saturated as they are reinforcing soft sections of the route by compacting and placing boulders in areas affected by heavy rainfall.
They say they were also affected as they had to bring most of their materials over from Lautoka.
Earlier this afternoon, FRA and its contractors were installing culverts.
Drivers are urged to plan their travel accordingly and expect possible delays.
FRA says in the meantime, traffic has been diverted via Nadiri Road before the affected site, through Sanasana Village, then towards Veisabasaba Village, linking past Tuva Indian School and reconnecting to Queens Road.
FRA says cars and light goods vehicles are being guided by their team through this detour.
They say buses and heavy vehicles are not accessing this route.
For buses, however, there is a changeover method implemented whereby passengers cross over onto the other side to board the bus.
