Continuous rainfall has significantly affected progress on the bypass road at the Semo slip site.
The Fiji Roads Authority says they will continue to maintain alternative access routes via Naidiri and Ciri Road (accessible to light goods vehicles only) and has scheduled additional maintenance works on the detour route tonight to ensure continued accessibility.
FRA is advising drivers to plan their travel accordingly and to expect possible delays.
They say to minimise waiting times and delays, those travelling from Suva to Lautoka, Nadi, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki are encouraged to consider using Kings Road as an alternative route, while the alternative detour routes (Naidiri and Ciri Road) remain as another option.
FRA is urging all drivers to exercise extreme caution when passing through the area and to remain mindful of pedestrians and commuters transferring between vehicles near the slip site.
