Nestle Fiji has once again recommitted to its partnership for Global Recycling Day 2026, marking three consecutive years of collaboration with the Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF).

Nestle Fiji General Manager Tim Inkster says the company’s vision is that none of its packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfill or as litter, and that it recognises the value of collaborations like this in achieving that goal.

He says sponsoring Global Recycling Day with PRF provides a key opportunity to raise awareness of the progress made and the work still required to strengthen recycling systems across the Pacific Islands.

Inkster reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working collaboratively towards sustainable outcomes.

PRF Founder, Amitesh Deo commended Nestle for being one of the first industry partners to actively support grassroots recycling organisations through Global Recycling Day.

He says Nestle Fiji’s continued partnership demonstrates the importance of collaborative leadership in tackling complex waste challenges.

He adds that long-term corporate engagement is essential in driving innovation, creating scalable solutions and supporting PRF’s broader vision of empowering communities while building a more inclusive recycling ecosystem.

Global Recycling Day 2026 will be held in Suva on March 18th, bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, development partners and grassroots advocates to advance practical solutions to Fiji’s growing waste management challenges.

The continued partnership between PRF and Nestle Fiji underscores the importance of private sector leadership in supporting national discussions on proper waste management, while advancing innovative solutions.
